Jim started his career within the Industrial / Environmental Industry with a small company based out of Houston Texas. The company supported the petrochemical industry with chemistry developed to minimize the impact of cleaning time during turn-a-rounds and shutdowns. These chemicals where used in such applications as vapor phase cleaning, exchanger cleanings, tower cleanings and exterior cosmetic cleaning. While working with the company Jim saw areas of development within the industry that would stream line several other areas of petrochemical cleaning applications
As a member of the NPRA and the ILTA Jim attended their conferences and found other chemical developers that where open to new ideas. The ability to pursue other avenues allowed Jim to develop innovative techniques in the realm of Tank Cleaning and Degassing. In collaboration with others a development of the use of chemistry and nozzle configurations began to take shape. Several large petrochemical facilities began implementing the use of the new technology as the business group grew.
As new opportunities opened up Jim found new technology to build on past experiences. Working with a tier one company Jim found new doors opening in the form of industry expertise and petrochemical companies. The petrochemical companies understood the benefits of environmental responsibility and safety that Jim proposed. Unlike others
As new opportunities opened up Jim found new technology to build on past experiences. Working with a tier one company Jim found new doors opening in the form of industry expertise and petrochemical companies. The petrochemical companies understood the benefits of environmental responsibility and safety that Jim proposed. Unlike others in the industry, Jim looked at each project from an overall stand point and not just the portion of work that he was being asked to look at. This ability to see the "big picture" gave him an added value in his client’s eyes. .
Hurricane Katrina struck the coast line of Louisiana where Jim’s family lived and where he grew up. What was being shown across the media was not close the devastation that had occurred. Jim spoke to his father and decided return to New Orleans to see if there was something that he could do. The knowledge and professional base that Jim had established over the years was about to be put to the test. As Jim started to work with people in Louisiana, Kellogg Brown & Root approached him and asked for assistance in remediation and de-watering of flooded areas in Louisiana. Jim told them that he could do what was needed and they awarded him, his father and two other business associates a contract to dewater areas of South Louisiana that had been flooded and contaminated due to the Hurricane. Within 24 hours Jim had assembled a team and had equipment staged for the project. The project, according the Corp of Engineers, was the largest mobile de-watering project ever assembled in America at the time. Jim and his team removed in excess of 4 trillion gallons of water within a 28 day period. Over the next 10 months Jim spent his time on environmental issues within Plaquemines Parish, housing needs for displaced families, and volunteer work. It was a very humbling time in his life along with being a meaningful time. Humble because, for Jim, seeing the power that can be unleashed from the earth was breath taking. Meaningful because, for Jim, seeing people pull together and give what they had to re-build a community after a disaster showed that people can be beat down, but if one person starts a momentum of good deeds then everyone follows.
Jim Woodard aspires to be exceptional at whatever challenges he has been tasked with. He is considered very aggressive in business and questions the status quo when it is presented. Understanding problems along with the end results and being able to present solutions for the problems is one of Jim’s strengths and what gives him the ability to exceed client expectations.
